1.

This project is called a “movie” because it will be shot film style – one camera on most locations and projected from a digital medium projector for audiences in some movie theaters.  (An example of digital production is the latest Star Wars which was produced entirely digitally and later “pressed tofilm” for distribution.)  No plans currently exist to “press” this one on “film.”  Production and distribution of the movie will be under an umbrella organization called Bobbert Productions, since many community groups will or have been asked to support this artistic endeavor.

2.  Initial showing schedule includes a run of 3 or 4 nights in a local theater after a large “gala” for the opening.  Here, I hope RAAC associated artists could show their works   i.e. Paintings, sculptures etc.  Prospective Opening Gala theaters include the Mall Movies? Gifford? Model?  Brock? Planetarium?  The movie should have a limited “run” at the mall.   It may be “revived” for special community events.

The “movie” DVD may be shown at White Hall.  The KY parks at White Hall may sell DVDs of it which will be provided to White Hall by Bobbert Productions (BP).

3.  Opening night may be a dinner theatre type presentation with a cost of food plus a small ticket fee, so cast may bring family members – enjoy a night out – and be seen on the “big screen.”

4.  The cast will be invited to view the movie and stay for questions from the audience on opening night and other nights thereafter.

5.  Cast will be selected through open tryouts and the final decision will rest with the director.

6.  Approximately 20 adult and 8 child parts are currently contemplated with community members invited to be extras in large group scenes.  This community involvement could make the final movie include over 200 people-- perhaps more if we can locate a church to do some scenes in.  Without a grant or substantial sponsorship actors and crew will be unpaid volunteers.

7.  There is a good chance that active Lexington actors may also “tryout.”

The following is the motivation and plot background.  It is not the sequence that the movie will take.  The movie starts with a funeral for a person in a closed coffin and much of the action is in “flashbacks” to the events that led to the funeral.    But the following is to help the writers keep motivations straight as they write the screenplay.  Character names have not been changed from the CLUE characters but they will be.  The names let the writers rely on the original character traits and existing descriptions of the characters to be remembered as they are modified.

Mr. X has been blackmailing the principal characters.  The sheriff and Mr. X have hated each other since childhood. and Mr. X wants to knock him down a peg by blackmailing him or seeing to his defeat in the impending election.  Mr. X also knows that he has milked this town about dry, and wants to start over in a new location.  He blackmails the Coroner/Undertaker and a butler into helping him.

Mr. X invites all the principles over for an “important meeting.”  The sheriff is not invited.  After the characters are briefly introduced,  Mr. X is found “dead.”  The former Mrs. X finds the body.  Later the too inquisitive “maid/waitress” is also found dead after she discovers a shadowy figure exiting by way of the gloomy cellar.

Mrs. X calls 911 and asks for the sheriff.  Prof P and Miss S discover her when they finally turn on the light. box

The blackmailed Coroner/undertaker arrives before the sheriff, pronounces Body dead, and whisks the body away toot sweet.   The Sheriff arrives -  they tell him about the maid.  He goes to see her and the Coroner/Undertaker leaves post haste.  The coroner is carrying “the” brief case full of the blackmailing items we assume.

The funeral:

Mr. X is not in the casket at all – (a dark figure like the one who shot Yvette wearing the strange watch sits in the balcony – it is Mr X.  He is watching the proceedings from the safety of a disguise.  He sits in the balcony.  The coroner uses the opportunity of funeral, which has brought together all the principles, to put an end to Mr. X’s blackmail once and for all.  He takes the principles  to a side room and disperses the “gifts.” (the items of formerly Mr X’s black mail material)  He announces that the coffin will be sealed after the ceremony, and implies that all it’s secrets will be buried forever.

 The Coroner’s death:

Mr. X in the balcony sees his “stuff” being distributed sneaks down the back stairs.  We see the hand with the watch at the church’s fuse box and the lights go out.  People scream and mill around.  A dark figure goes up to the coroner/undertaker and shoots him.  We see him drop the gun at the feet of one of the suspects as he runs out.  The coroner falls against the casket and when the lights get back up he is dead on the floor with the casket open.  All the blackmail goodies and the gun are lying publicly on the floor.

his blackmail scheme “gone amuck” Mr X decides to knock off a few people.???

(that’s the set up)       -------------------

Last scene: sheriff office

Final exposition – Mr. X knows he has one last chance to get the sheriff and escape.   He tells the sheriff he has copies of a certain Birth Certificate that involves the Sheriff

Mr. X still believes he can control the sheriff, so he confronts him with the whole story, and threatens to make a public appearance. We see “the watch” on the sheriff as he hangs up the phone to confront Mr. X.   Since the sheriff has already made an arrest for Mr. X’s murder, the appearance of Mr. X in the flesh will embarrass the sheriff just before the election.

Mr. X looks at his watch “the watch.” And says Sheriff I don’t have a lot of time so are you going to come after me and be revealed or let me go.  He reaches with the watch hand for what might be a gun.   We see the watch on a gun hand fire.  A deputy rushes in and we freeze and dissolve to black

We don’t know who shoots who
